Race Report.."It's too acidic"

Post-race pic in the lavender fields!

All women's 5 and 10k in beautiful Blanco.

We thought mapquest would get us there. It didn't. We ended up 20 mins late, calling for directions, there were absolutely no signs! We pretty much decided we were going to miss it. Then after talking to the nice lady on the phone, we found our way! Hence, why the race started so late, no one could find it!

Notice all the runners lining up? Yes..sadly we were still waiting in the toilet line.

Only 3, count em, THREE port-o-potties available. Luckily we were chip timed, so we could start whenever we wanted...but 3?!!?!!

Gorgeous run!

Love these hills

What better way to celebrate the race then with mimosas and champagne!
The breakfast was delicious...consisted of a potato and egg taco, a fruit cup and a cheescake (?!?!?!?) muffin! It was sooooo tasty! And of course, a cup of champagne. Funny story. When we would go to get refills on our champagne, the guy would be like "oh, would you like that in a mimosa" and I said "no..just the champagne please," and he laughed and said "oh yall just like it straight huh" and I said "oh yeah the OJ is too acidic." Which is true!!!!! It gives me heartburn. He didn't believe me, I'm sure he just thought I was a lush!

We did it!

Yes, we are dorks and have to take pics of everything!
We actually placed. I don't know if this is good or bad, b/c I was running so slow, so it must have been a lot of beginners out there like me!

Great run!!!

Adventures in Blanco

On Saturday, B and I headed to his good friend Robin's house for a day of skeet shooting.
I've never been skeet shooting before, the most I've ever shot a gun has been at Brian's uncle's house in east Texas and with those experiences, I have learned I am much better at shooting targets than moving objects, but I still had a great time TRYING.

Dakota loves getting out of the house so we brought her along for the ride.
Blanco is not too far of a drive, only about 45 minutes, plus the 10 minutes extra since we got a little turned around on one of the roads and ended up a little lost.

She loves looking out the window.

This was at Robin's - His family's house is right on the Blanco river - so jealous! As soon as we walked down to the river Dakota dove in, she loves the water. Look at her tongue.

This is me after about 4 hours of shooting. My arms were tired, I still hadn't really hit anything, and kinda started feeling a lot of soreness in my arm.

Dakota was TERRIFIED of the shots. She hid under the truck the entire time.

Brian and Robin doing what they do best.

I thought this picture was hilarious b/c it just looks trashy. I mean, a beat up truck, hundreds of shells, beer bottles, a random lawn chair, icechest and boxes galore. I had to capture it's hilariousness.
We all knew my arm was feeling sore, but the next morning I awoke with this giant bruise. Today, it's more of a purple dotted number.

Yes this video is sideways, but what better way to see my form and technique than feeling like you were right there with me- ha!

Texas Lavender Hills 5k sign-up!

This morning April and I decided on a whim to run the Texas Lavendar Hills Women's 5k this weekend in Blanco (about 45 mins from Buda).

It's an all women's event designed as a girlfriend's getaway where you can get your sweat on while enjoying the Texas Lavender County of Blanco. Looping through the scenic property and finishing by the lavender fields. Post race includes a brunch, mimosas and live music! (3 of my favorite things!)

Sounds like the perfect weekend run to me!

I need to get back in running mode, since I haven't been able to run as much because of bootcamp. A 5k sounds like the perfect jumpstart.

Speaking of Blanco, we went out to B's friend's house in Blanco to shoot skeet.
I have a very pretty bruise on my arm to show for it.
Pics and videos to be posted tomorrow from my shooting experience!
